Introduction
Motorsports Commission of Malaysia ("MCM") was established in August 2006 under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth & Sports for the overall governance and development of motor sports and to ensure the ongoing growth and prosperity of motor sports in Malaysia.
MCM oversees the distribution of government funding for various sports development projects. The funding scheme is managed by Motorsports Association of Malaysia ("MAM") www.mam.org.my
MCM acts as an advisor to the Government on matters related to motor sports and are also focusing on industry development to ensure that the country as a whole can benefit from the enormous opportunities high-profile events such as, Formula 1 and MotoGP presents.
Tourism and the motor industry can take advantage of business opportunities arising from motor sports, such as event management, development, engineering and so on.
MCM plans to spearhead the establishment of a Motorsports Industry Association in 2008.
